PROTEST! TRANS PEOPLE AND OUR ALLIES CALLED UPON TO PROTEST THE BBC IN BRIGHTON THIS SATURDAY

Another protest against the BBC’s recent absurdly transphobic article has been set for Brighton this coming Saturday.

The protest was announced by Reclaim Pride Brighton, a “Queer affinity group for radical pride actions, mutual aid and protest movements.”

In a statement released on the group’s social media, Reclaim Pride Brighton accused the BBC of: “…diving head first into full-blown transphobic hate speech.”

The protest comes after multiple protests in London, Cardiff, Bristol and Manchester were held primarily as a response to a now infamous article published by the BBC that suggested that trans women were dangerous to cisgender lesbians which included contributions from a woman who has admitted to sexually assaulting multiple women as well as calling for trans women to be murdered.

“We are a community united against institutionally-backed eliminationism. It will not deter us. It will not divide us. It will not defeat us” the statement went on to say.

The protest will take place outside BBC Sussex on Queens Road in Brighton this Saturday (13/11/21) at 1pm. I will be there to report what I see (and probably get some chips and look at the sea after).
